USA: Ready to remove Sudan from the “list of supporters of terrorism”, but on conditions

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The administration of US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that it is ready to remove Sudan from the list of countries supporting terrorism, if the Sudanese authorities carry out further reforms.

This came in a statement issued by a spokeswoman for the US State, Heather Naort, following talks in Washington between US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan and Sudanese Foreign Minister Dardari Mohammad Ahmed.

According to the same statement, the US State Department called on Khartoum to “strengthen cooperation to combat terrorism and improve the human rights record of the country.”
